Collection: Kyler Lee Pappi
This work brings together exploration using traditional watercolor painting practices, and Neo styles to evoke a visual collage of brushstrokes, shapes, patterns, and juxtapositions of colorful iconography that examines everyday life thru ‘wholeness’ or visual faith.
Stylistically, Kyler's work references cosmopolitan expressionism and fine art canvases of the 1980s - reminiscent of Peter Kitchel, sprinkled with epigrams of culture. Conversely, his practice begins with a mental, physical, and emotional submission to God with a prayer before, during, and after he works. Kyler manifests a spectacular surrogate universe that consumes his psyche and body into a meditative painting; it isn't until he completes a painting, does he realize what he has made.
